Description
MD:
- To identify patients at risk for vaccine-preventable infectious disease who may be unimmunized or under-immunized
- To clinically review specific emergency department management principles and controversises for these at-risk patients
- To review strategies to provide evidence to caregivers who have chosen not to immunize their children.
RN:
- To identify importance of good history taking to determine vaccination status
- To recognize high risk patients
- Importance of initiating appropriate PPE and isolation precautions
- Importance of good communication with patient/family
EMS:
- To be able to identify high risk patients who have not been vaccinated, and to understand what PPE uses may be needed
- To understand the importance of history taking in children to determine vaccination history
